儚い（hakanai），意指虛幻、脆弱、無常的一種狀態。加藤千佳使用玻璃這樣堅硬卻易碎的媒材，去刻畫那些終究消逝的現象，從中萃取出殘留在記憶中的美感。無論是剔透的冰柱、粉白的雪花、流動的積水，或是櫻花樹上飄落的葉片，加藤的作品為日本文化中指涉對事物短暫存在和終將消逝的感傷，這種兼具哲學性與美學性的「物哀」概念，做了屬於年輕世代創作者的詮釋與註解。

生命與物質皆有限，而無限的時間卻帶領萬物走向不可避免的消逝。在「拾光」與「時光」二詞交錯間，「時光」的流逝變遷，述說著人、物、事，無法永恆存在的悲傷；「拾光」捕捉光影的過程，作為一種記憶和紀念的方式，卻為我們帶來了希望與美好。

加藤以玻璃承載著「光」的瞬息萬變，將隨時間流逝而逐漸淡去的回憶保存下來，就像是被玻璃捕捉、收集、反射和折射的光線一樣。這種對物質和時間不可逆轉的消逝所產生的情感，讓我們能夠回望和體驗這些微微哀傷卻又美麗的瞬間，感受到生命中每個瞬間皆獨特而珍貴。

“HAKANAI” is a Japanese term that expresses a state of transience, fragility, and illusion. Chika Kato utilizes glass as her medium, which possesses a duality of strength and delicacy, to depict fleeting phenomena that gradually dissipate, extracting the enduring beauty found within memories. Whether it is the translucency of ice formations, the delicateness of powdery snowflakes, the fluidity of flowing puddles, or the ephemeral descent of cherry blossom petals, Kato’s artworks evoke a poignant atmosphere deeply rooted in Japanese culture, alluding to the transient nature and inevitable disappearance of phenomena. This amalgamation of philosophical and aesthetic elements, known as “物の哀れ” or the sensitivity to things, showcases an interpretation and commentary by emerging contemporary creators.

Life and substance are both finite, while infinite time guides all things towards inevitable dissolution. Within the juxtaposition of the words “拾光” and “時光,” “時光” symbolizes the passage of time, narrating the inherent sorrow of human beings, objects, and events that cannot exist eternally. On the other hand, “拾光” represents the process of capturing light and shadow as a means of memory and remembrance, endowing them with hope and beauty.

Kato’s glass creations carry the ethereal essence of ‘light’, cradling memories that gently dissolve as time weaves its narrative. The interplay of light and glass, an exquisite blend of capture, collection, reflection, and refraction, tenderly resurrects fragments of life’s recollections. It is within the depths of this irretrievable passage of substance and time that emotions stir, guiding us to revisit and immerse ourselves in those subtly melancholic yet resplendent instances.
